Mortgage foreclosure
Illinois mortgage foreclosures go through court. In the ordinary case, the redemption deadline is before the foreclosure auction. Illinois law distinguishes paying missed installments from paying the full foreclosure amount to redeem; which amount and deadline apply depend on the court case and its papers.
A signed purchase agreement does not automatically extend the redemption deadline. Review the dates and payoff with the lender and a qualified Illinois attorney, and use the court record for the case-specific status.
See the Illinois Mortgage Foreclosure Law, including 735 ILCS 5/15-1603, and the Illinois Courts’ approved mortgage-foreclosure forms.
