Mortgage foreclosure
Virginia home foreclosures usually proceed as a trustee's sale under a deed of trust, not a court case. For an owner-occupied home, written notice of sale generally must go to the owner at least 60 days ahead; for other property, the period is 14 days. The sale must be advertised in a local newspaper. A postponed sale must be advertised again. Until you have a new date in writing, plan around the date on your notice.
Read the Virginia rules for notice of sale, advertising, and postponement and sale procedure.
