Mortgage foreclosure
A mortgage foreclosure is tied to a home loan. Michigan mortgage foreclosure auctions are commonly sheriff’s sales. A sale may still be possible before the auction if the required payoff and closing can be completed in time. In a foreclosure by advertisement, six months after the sale is the most common redemption period, but shorter and longer periods apply. To redeem, the amount includes the sale amount plus required interest and charges—not only the missed payments. Check the current notice and have a title company or attorney confirm what applies to your property.
