Ohio mortgage foreclosures go through the court. You can generally still stop the sale before the judge confirms it—even after the auction—by depositing the full judgment amount, costs and applicable interest with the court clerk (Ohio Rev. Code §2329.33). Selling first may help protect any equity you have. Our agreement of sale will often get a sheriff's sale postponed so we can close. Signing alone doesn't postpone it automatically; we use the agreement to ask for the postponement, and it works more often than people think. Follow the date on the actual notice and contact the court, servicer, or an Ohio attorney promptly.
