Find the right help
The City of San Antonio’s incorporated-place boundary touches Bexar, Comal, and Medina Counties. That is not a description of the whole metro area, and a city name or mailing address does not identify the county for an unsupplied parcel. Check the property address or tax account before calling; valuation, tax collection, land records, and court records are handled by different offices.
County offices
Use the office for the county tied to the parcel. Appraisal districts answer valuation questions; county tax offices handle tax accounts; County Clerks maintain the records listed below; probate courts and court clerks handle case routes. Bring the address, account number, notice, or case number when you call.

A Texas rule that can affect your next step
Texas has no state, county, or city real-estate transfer tax on a sale conveying full ownership of real property. The Texas Constitution bars a transfer tax on that kind of sale. The deed still needs to be signed before a notary and recorded with the County Clerk for the property’s county. Ask that clerk about the current recording fee; the fee is based on deed pages, not the sale price.
When you sell to us, we pay the closing costs. Your mortgage, liens, back taxes, and share of current property taxes are separate.

The incorporated City of San Antonio boundary touches Bexar, Comal, and Medina Counties, but a city or mailing label does not identify the county for a particular parcel. Check the property address or account first, then use that county’s appraisal district, Tax Office, County Clerk, or court contact below.
The county appraisal district handles appraisal and value questions; the county Tax Assessor-Collector or Tax Office handles tax accounts, payments, and balances. They are separate jobs. BCAD says it does not accept tax payments, and Comal and Medina also list separate appraisal and collection offices.
Start with the County Clerk for deeds and recorded land documents in the property’s county. Comal County Clerk also lists lien and judgment records. For a court case or judgment, use the court or clerk route shown on the actual case record or notice; an appraisal district and tax office do not decide the court record.
Use the probate or court route for the county and actual estate record: Bexar County lists three Probate Courts and a Probate Clerk; Comal lists County Court at Law 1 for probate and guardianship contact; Medina County Court at Law provides probate and guardianship forms. The County Clerk pages also identify related filing routes.
