Who can sign for an inherited house?
An appointed personal representative can generally sell estate real estate during administration without a separate court order, while acting for the estate and following the will and any court restrictions. A state or county public administrator needs court approval before selling estate real estate. Being named in a will alone does not give someone the personal representative's powers. The deed, will, and appointment papers determine who can sign and what is needed to close for the particular property.
